Mr. Sweet received his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1963 in Political Science. He received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1965. Between 1965 and 1999, Sweet served as a trial attorney, supervisory attorney, and Regional Attorney of the Milwaukee Regional Office of the National Labor Relations Board. In announcing the appointment of Sweet as Regional Attorney in 1997, the General Counsel of the NLRB, Fred Feinstein, stated, “Steve Sweet has served the agency in a highly capable manner throughout his career. He has acquired a well deserved reputation as an outstanding attorney and supervisor and brings to this important position a wealth of legal and managerial experience.”

A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Mr. Sweet has also served as an adjunct professor of advanced labor law at the University of Wisconsin. In addition, he has been a frequent lecturer to attorneys and law students regarding NLRB procedure and case law. Mr. Sweet is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and is admitted to practice before the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
